Dirt Oval Track Racing in South Africa. Welcome to Racing PolitiX, where you will get ALL the latest and most relevant information on Dirt Oval Track Racing in South Africa.
Excellent, excellent, excellent racing at Tygerberg Raceway last night!! Well done and congratulations to ALL the competitors who took part! AWESOME!! The management of Tygerberg Raceway stepped it up a notch and the crowds were thrilled! At one stage I was watching the spectator's reactions to the happenings at interval and felt that it might have stretched out for a bit too long. The drifting/spinning combo by Eddie (Rasta) got the crowds going as did the spectator race. As for the rest....well, I don't necessarily think it had the desired effect, but well done for trying it out!!
The next race is on the 19th @ Kleinplasie. If the previous event at Kleinplasie was anything to go by, I suspect it will be a great success.
I am sooooo thrilled by the fact that the youngsters are so up and coming in our sport! It's something I dreamt of for years, and it's finally being realised! Young JP du Plessis (Jnr), Thys Valentyn (WOW!!), Dewald de Villiers and Armandt de Villiers, Stephan Weideman's son "WF" Weideman, Michaela Norman, Mamba Jeffries Jnr, Bryan Grimbeek, Raniel Koegelenberg, Jacques Loots (Jnr), Tyron Els, Stephan Smit, that young guy from Springbok (not sure of his name) and of course Dirk die Skurk's son, Burger van der Westhuizen and a whole lot more I can't even think of right now. They are slowly taking over and it's fantastic!

There are people who put soooooo much into oval track racing!!! They are all hero's!! The fact is that there are track-owners who put heart, soul and money into every event. Then there are the drivers who work every night on their race-cars making sure they are properly prepped for the racing event, and after burning up their monthly budget on the car and new tools, they go to the track and race as hard as they possibly can. What about those people working at the gate, doing security, working as Marshalls, Pitt-Controllers, Line-up Controllers, C.O.C's, assistant C.O.C's, the cleaners, and the spectators. Some spectators are ALWAYS there come hell or high-water! There are pitt crews who put everything they have into making sure that their driver and car perform as expected on the night. It even carries all the way up to the people who sit tirelessly to run our sport from the governing bodies, etc..... Well, I want to say THANK-YOU to each and every participant in oval track racing, because without every single one of you the sport wouldn't be the same. Despite the fact that there are 30 odd oval tracks in SA each attracting approx 3000 spectators / month (which equates to 90'000 spectators countrywide/month (as pointed out to me by my friend and great contributor to the sport - Andre Alberts), we do not enjoy massive media coverage. Well, although this is not much, I SALUTE YOU ALL. I love this sport with all it's ups and downs, and I am grateful to each and every one of you!
Thanks to guys like AutoZone for their sponsorship of a race series this year!! Here's some mileage for you:

If you click on one of the pics on the scroller on the left, and then after you've closed it, your screen seems to be darker and stand still, just move the page up and down a bit with with your bar on the far right of this screen, and the page will return to it's original state again. If you would like the scroller to move slower, or if your would like to rewind, just place your cursor over the scroller and control it.
